Bob Birch | the albums Elton

Bob Birch (born 1956, Detroit, Michigan) is a session bass guitarist, mostly noted for his work with Elton John. When he was growing up, he played the bassoon in addition to bass. When he is not touring or recording, he has been known to be an excellent chef.

Although he majored in the bassoon and music education while attending Wayne State University, his passion and true devotion was with the bass guitar. After graduating from the fine musical institution of Wayne State, he pursued the rock & roll dream by venturing to Los Angeles.

The virtuoso of the bass guitar then proceeded with hard work to make his name known in the fine city of Los Angeles by taking every musical job he could. In 1990 he helped form the rock band Warpipes while playing bass and saxophone. Warpipes did well, but Elton John also recognized him for being a bandmate of the members of his own band. Bob has been the bassist for Elton John since 1991. Bob is also a music composer in the making.

He has a wife, Michele, and a son who attends Occidental College, where he studies biochemistry.
