The Jethro Tull Christmas Album is an album released by Jethro Tull on September 30, 2003 (see 2003 in music). The songs are a mix of new material, re-recordings of Tull’s own suitably-themed material and arrangements of traditional Christmas music.
Ian Anderson about the song Birthday Card at Christmas: ” My daughter Gael, like millions of other unfortunates, celebrates her birthday within a gnat’s whisker of Christmas. Overshadowed by the Great Occasion, such birthdays can be flat, perfunctory and fleetingly token in their uneventful passing. The daunting party and festive celebration of the Christian calendar overshadows too, some might argue, the humble birthday of one Mr. J. Christ. Funny old 25ths, Decembers…”

Tinsel is a thin metallic strip typically made of plastic for use for Christmas decoration, particularly on Christmas trees. Tinsel is different than Garland, which is “Tinsel on a rope”. It was invented in Germany in 1610, and was originally made of shredded silver.
Tinsel used to include lead, which caused the strands to hang better from the branches. This was eventually removed due to safety concerns.

“Christmas” is a song written by Pete Townshend and is the seventh song on the Who’s rock opera Tommy. The song tells how on Christmas morning, Tommy’s father (others claim it is both of Tommy’s parents) is worried about Tommy’s future, and soul. He claims “Tommy doesn’t know what day it is/He doesn’t know who Jesus was or what praying is,” and he wonders “How can he be saved/From the eternal grave?”
Musical themes
Musically, Christmas introduces the See Me, Feel Me reprise. Also there is a short “Can You Hear Me” reprise that will be repeated in the song Tommy Can You Hear Me.
That same Christmas, Tommy is given a game of pinball, foreshadowing to the events that take place in “Pinball Wizard”

Christmas creep is the commercial phenomenon of merchants and retailers exploiting the commercialized status of Christmas (see Christmas season) earlier and earlier every year. It is most often attributed to the desire of many merchants to take advantage of particularly heavy Christmas-related shopping well before Black Friday in the US and before Halloween in Canada and the UK. It can apply for other holidays as well, notably Valentine’s Day, Easter and Mother’s Day. The key for holiday creep is for retailers to lengthen their selling season for seasonal merchandise in order to maximize profit and to give early-bird shoppers a headstart on that holiday.

Little Christmas, or Nollaig Bheag in the Irish language, is one of the traditional names in Ireland for January 6, more commonly known in the rest of the world as the Epiphany. It is so called because it was, until the adoption of the Gregorian calendar, the day on which Christmas Day was celebrated. It is the traditional end of the Christmas season and the last day of the Christmas holidays for both Primary and Secondary schools.
The name Little Christmas is also found in Slovenian (mali božič).
It is also known as Nollaig na mBan (Women’s Christmas), so called because of the tradition (still very strong in Cork, though only just surviving in the rest of the country) of Irish men taking on all the household duties on that day and giving their spouses a day off. Most women will either hold parties or go out to celebrate the day with their friends, sisters, mothers, aunts etc. Bars and restaurants have a near 100% female clientele on this night. Children often buy presents for their mothers and grandmothers and it closely resembles Mother’s Day in this respect.
