Lundin Links | External links

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Lundin Links is a small village in Fife, Scotland. The village is best known for its two golf courses. The 18 hole course, Lundin Golf Club, was used as a pre-qualifying course when The Open Championship is held at St. Andrews. Lundin Links Ladies 9 hole course is the oldest woman’s golf course in the world. It features some impressive standing stones. On the second fairway of the ladies course there is a cluster of three standing stones dating from the 2nd millennium BC that form a megalithic four-poster (one of the stones was lost around 1792). The village was largely built in the 19th century to accommodate tourists visiting the village of Lower Largo.

Lundin Links is contiguous with Upper Largo and Lower Largo.

Christmas creep | Christmas

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Christmas creep is the commercial phenomenon of merchants and retailers exploiting the commercialized status of Christmas (see Christmas season) earlier and earlier every year. It is most often attributed to the desire of many merchants to take advantage of particularly heavy Christmas-related shopping well before Black Friday in the US and before Halloween in Canada and the UK. It can apply for other holidays as well, notably Valentine’s Day, Easter and Mother’s Day. The key for holiday creep is for retailers to lengthen their selling season for seasonal merchandise in order to maximize profit and to give early-bird shoppers a headstart on that holiday.

John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together | to Christmas’ EP. edit

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together is a 1979 Christmas television special starring Jim Henson’s Muppets and the late singer/songwriter John Denver. Better known is the soundtrack album of the same name, which featured thirteen tracks of traditional carols and original songs. This album was later re-released in 2000 as an edited ten track version and the original full-length CD has now been re-released in its entirety in 2006.

The previously missing tracks, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (performed by John Denver and Rowlf the Dog), When the River Meets the Sea (performed by John Denver and Robin), and Little Saint Nick (performed by Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem) are, ironically, among the best-loved on the album .
