Stand up for Love | stand-alone single

Stand Up For Love” was the first single from Destiny’s Child’s greatest hits album, #1’s. Released in 2005, the single became Destiny’s Child’s first single to fail to chart in the United States. This may be due to iTunes not making the song available unless you purchased the entire album and also the lack of promotion. The song was the final Destiny’s Child single, although another new song from the album, “Check on It” (a solo Beyoncé Knowles song) was released.

History

The song was written by David Foster and his daughter, Amy Foster-Gillies. The inspirational song has been hyped for its message of hope in the wake of Hurricane Katrina (although written before it happened). The song has also been touted as the World Children’s Day Anthem of 2005.

Chart performance

Although it was solicited to radio in late September of 2005, the single failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. The song initially received airplay support from New York City’s Z-100, but few other radio stations in the United States picked it up.
