    Christmas cookies | Christmas’ EP.

    Friday, April 18th, 2008

Christmas cookies are traditionally sugar cookies (though other flavors may be used based on family traditions and individual preferences) cut into various shapes related to Christmas. In the United States, since the 1930s, children have left cookies and milk on a table for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, though many people simply consume the cookies themselves. The cookies are often cut into such shapes as those of candy canes, reindeer, and holly leaves. Oreos are also popular.

Roy O. Disney | Disney Christmas

    Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Roy Oliver Disney (June 24, 1893–December 20, 1971, aged 78) was, with his younger brother Walt Disney, co-founder of what is now The Walt Disney Company. Roy served as the company’s chief executive officer (1929–1971)-though title name wasn’t given until 1968-, president (1945–1971), and chairman (1966–1971).

Roy was born to Elias Disney and the former Flora Call in Chicago, Illinois. He married Edna Francis in April 1925, and from this marriage he is the father of Roy Edward Disney, who was born on January 10, 1930.

While Walt was the creative man, Roy was the one who made sure the company was financially stable; Roy and Walt both founded Disney Studios as brothers, but Walt would buy out most of Roy’s share in 1929 and, unlike Max and Dave Fleischer of rival Fleischer Studios, was not a producer. After Walt Disney’s death, Roy made sure that Disney World would be completed and renamed it Walt Disney World in order to make sure that no one would forget his brother. After Walt Disney World opened in October 1971, Roy Disney finally retired. He died from a stroke at home two months later, age 78.

A statue of Roy O. Disney, seated on a park bench beside Minnie Mouse, is located in Town Square at the Magic Kingdom.

Oblique type | Other versions It was

    Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Oblique type is a form of type that slants slightly to the right, used in the same manner as italic type. Unlike italic type, however, it does not use different glyph shapes; it uses the same glyphs as roman type, except distorted. Oblique and italic type are often confused.

The start of this confusion possibly appeared when Adrian Frutiger named the slanted versions of his typefaces Univers and Frutiger as italic. Following this viewpoint, sans-serif typefaces often do not have true italic versions. The Gill Sans and Goudy Sans typefaces are two well-known exceptions. All of the sans-serif Windows Vista typefaces have true italic versions.

Jolt (comics) | Ho! Who’d Be

    Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Jolt (Helen “Hallie” Takahama) is a fictional character, a superheroine in the Marvel Universe and a member of the Thunderbolts and Young Allies.

    Contents

    Fictional character biography

Hallie Takahama was born in Ojai, California before moving with her parents to New York City at a young age. A super hero buff, she memorized details about various superhuman battles.

On her 15th birthday, Sentinels controlled by Onslaught destroyed her apartment, killing her parents and friends, and for weeks Hallie hid in the ruins of the city with several children she rescued. When Hallie went to seek help after Onslaught’s defeat, she and all the children she was protecting were kidnapped by the mercenary group the Rat Pack and experimented on by the Rat Pack’s employer, Arnim Zola. The other children died or were horribly mutated, but Hallie became faster, stronger, and gained the ability to throw bio-electric punches. She escaped and attempted to reach the Fantastic Four.

Having been isolated between the destruction and the experiments, she had not known that many superheroes, including the F4 and most of the Avengers, had been whisked to a Pocket Universe created by Franklin Richards, the son of Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman of the F4. The world at large presumed the heroes dead. When Hallie reached Four Freedom Plaza the F4’s old headquarters she encountered the Thunderbolts, a new apparent super team who were in fact the Masters of Evil posing as heroes.

She joined the team and eventually convinced most of the now-wavering former villains to come over to the “light” side proper. She went on the run with the team, before being “killed” by Scourge. Revived by Techno, she could now become a being of pure electricity, but the damage from the time she spent “dead” left her crippled in her human form, although after much therapy, she fully recovered.

After being stranded on Counter-Earth with most of the Thunderbolts, she chose to stay behind to help the devastated planet as one of the Young Allies. However, Jolt made a brief return to Earth, in order to help both the T-Bolts & Avengers to stop the out-of-control Moonstone (who’d possessed two moonstones at the time and was losing control when she absorbed the Liberator’s energies within her).

    Powers and abilities

Originally, Jolt possessed hyperkinetic agility and could move with amazing speed and jump vast distances. Her hyperactive metabolism made her body’s natural bioelectric field exceptionally powerful, and she could shock enemies with a touch. Moreover, Techno stated that she could transform any kind of energy into physical strength and speed, and that with an unlimited source of energy she would be able to use her powers with no physical strain whatsoever.

After her “rebirth”, Jolt could change from flesh-and-blood into living electricity. In her energy form, she could fly and fire blasts of electrical force. At first, she could only function in her electric form, her human form was so injured that she could barely walk and talk. She has now fully recovered, and her level of power has increased.

    Alternate versions

    MC2

While not appearing often, Jolt was member of the Avengers before the current team was formed in A-Next #1.

Tinsel | to Christmas’ EP. edit

    Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Tinsel is a thin metallic strip typically made of plastic for use for Christmas decoration, particularly on Christmas trees. Tinsel is different than Garland, which is “Tinsel on a rope”. It was invented in Germany in 1610, and was originally made of shredded silver.

Tinsel used to include lead, which caused the strands to hang better from the branches. This was eventually removed due to safety concerns.

Business record | Business for the ‘Bollocks

    Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

A business record is a document that records a business dealing. Business records include meeting minutes, memorandums, employment contracts, and accounting source documents.

It must be retrievable at a later date so that the business dealings can be accurately reviewed as required. Since business is dependent upon confidence and trust, not only must the record be accurate and easily retrieved, the processes surrounding its creation and retrieval must be perceived by customers and the business community to consistently deliver a full and accurate record with no gaps or additions.

Business information | Business for the ‘Bollocks

    Monday, March 31st, 2008

Business Information is one of the three main segments of the Information Industry. The other two segments are Scientific, Technical & Medical (“STM”) and Educational & Training content.

The Business Information industry is presently estimated to be a more than $358 Billion market, according to industry analysts Outsell, Inc. Where much of the content industry revenues are advertising-driven, the Business Information segment remains largely driven by paid content, either via subscription or transaction (pay-per-view).

The primary forms of business information include:

    • News
    • Market Research
    • Credit and Financial Information
    • Company and Executive Profiles
    • Industry, Country and Economic Analysis
    • IT Research

While Wall Street’s thirst for information traditionally drove the business information market, its use is much more widespread today. In addition to the financial markets, business information is used heavily for sales and marketing, competitive intelligence, strategic planning, human resources and many other strategic business functions.

Today, there are more than 200 http://www.alacrawiki.com/index.php?title=Premium_Business_Information_Databases providers of business information. While the Internet has made it easier for business information publishers to deliver content directly to their users, there remains a strong market for aggregators of such content which package business information in ways to meet an industry or customer’s workflow.
