Ho, Ho, Ho | Christmas

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

Ho, Ho, Ho (officially titled “VH1 Presents RuPaul Ho Ho Ho”) is the 1997 album of Christmas music released by drag queen, singer and actress RuPaul. The album was a combination of original music, standards and comedy vingettes. Most of the traditional songs were given a campy twist. The title is a double entendre: though it is a phrase associated with Christmas (it is the sound of Santa’s laughter expressed through onomatopoeia,) the term “ho” also refers to a whore or prostitute. The album’s cover features three scantily-clad versions of RuPaul, and the back cover features her legs with panties around the ankles; these are the “three hoes”.

The album was tied-in to a television Christmas special from The RuPaul Show on VH1. Much of the humor on the album is of a risqué nature, making it quite different from traditionally wholesome holiday albums. For instance, the classic “All I Want For Christmas” is turned into a thumping dance song with lyrical changes requesting breast implants, a tummy tuck and rhinoplasty, so that (as she sings) “I can look real purty!”.

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

The Hînge theorem in geometry states that if two sides of one triangle are congruent to two sides of another triangle, and the included angle of the first is larger than the included angle of the second, then the third side of the first triangle is longer than the third side of the second triangle.

The converse of the hinge theorem would be: If the two sides of one triangle are congruent to two sides of another triangle, and the third side of the first triangle is greater than the third side of the second triangle, then the included angle of the first triangle is larger than the included angle of the second triangle.

Within just a few years, the chain became the biggest supermarket chain in Iceland. In 1992, another Icelandic supermarket, Hagkaup, bought a 50% stake. In 1998 the chains merged<ref>http://www.baugurgroup.com - Baugur Group website (In english)</ref>, but keeping their separate identities, to form Baugur Group. Crimbo | Christmas

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Crimbo is a slang term for Christmas, originating in urban slang before becoming more widely used.

The OED cites the first printed usage to 1928 (see [1]). They credit John Lennon’s 1963 usage in a Beatles’ Fan Club Christmas single as the first recorded use of the variant form Crimble (see [2]).

The word also appeared in the title of a 2004 UK hit single, Proper Crimbo, performed by Leigh Francis with guest celebrities, in the guise of various Bo Selecta! characters.

Crimbo is also the name of the MMORPG Kingdom of Loathing’s version of Christmas.
