    Mousterpiece Theater | Disney Christmas

    Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Mousterpiece Theater was an American television show that ran on the Disney Channel that was made in the mid-1980s and was rerun into the 1990s. It was a parody of the PBS show Masterpiece Theatre, except instead of showing dramatic works, it featured classic Disney cartoons. George Plimpton hosted and gave commentary and background information before and after each cartoon. Each show tended to have a theme; Goofy’s emergence as the staid everyman character for example. It ran later in the evening later than cartoon shows usually were aired because it was intended for older cartoon enthusiasts instead of children. It only lasted one season.
