1856 Whig National Convention | hard ticket

After the 1852 election, the Whig Party fragmented over the slavery issue. In 1856, the once powerful Whigs assembled in Baltimore and found themselves unable to nominate a candidate. As a result, the delegates voted to endorse the American Party ticket.
